Short version: play the game, be decent to other players, don't try to break it. The rest is detail.
Playing
Whiskerloop is free. Today's room is free and is intended to stay that way. You may play it on any device you like, with or without an account.
Your account
You are responsible for keeping your password to yourself. If you think somebody else has it, change it — doing so signs out every other device immediately.
One person, one account. Making several to climb a leaderboard is the kind of thing that gets an account removed.
Your display name
It appears on a public leaderboard, so it is filtered and may be reviewed. We will reset a name that is a slur, an impersonation, or an advertisement. If we reset yours you keep your account, your streak and anything you have bought — you just get a new name.
Whiskerloop Pass
The Pass is a monthly subscription, and it needs an account, so that what you pay for is kept with you. It unlocks every level after the free ones, the full archive, two more hints in every room and your complete statistics history. It does not make the puzzles easier and it does not affect the leaderboard: paying buys you more game, not an advantage in it.
Themes and avatars
Some themes belong to an event - Halloween, Christmas, Easter - and are free to wear while it is on. Buying one keeps it after the event ends. Other themes and some avatars are sold outright; most avatars are earned by playing. All of them change only how things look. Like the Pass, they are kept on your account.
Billing is handled by the store you bought it from — Google Play or the web payment provider. It renews until you cancel, and you cancel in the same place you bought it, not here. We cannot cancel or refund a Google Play subscription on your behalf; they hold the payment relationship.
Where the law gives you a refund right, it applies. In the UK and EU that generally means 14 days, though starting to use a digital service can end that right early — the store will tell you at purchase.
If we withdraw the Pass entirely, we will stop charging and you keep what you have already paid for until it expires.
Things not to do
- Automating play, or submitting solutions any way other than by playing — a leaderboard of scripts is not a leaderboard.
- Attacking the service, or trying to get at other players' data. If you find a way to, please tell us instead; see below.
- Reselling access, or charging other people for something we give away.
Breaking these can cost you your account. We will tell you why, and you can reply.
Who owns what
The game, its puzzles, its artwork and its name are ours. Your display name and the scores you set are yours; by putting them on a leaderboard you are asking us to show them to other players, which is the point of a leaderboard. Your solve results are yours to screenshot and share anywhere you like.
Availability
We try to keep it up and we do not promise it always will be. It is a puzzle game; if it is down for an hour, tomorrow's room still arrives. Where a serious outage costs you Pass time, tell us and we will make it right.
We may change the game — the rules, the difficulty, what the Pass includes. If a change takes away something you paid for, we will say so first.
Liability
Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not permit us to limit. Beyond that, and to the extent the law allows, our liability for anything connected to Whiskerloop is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before it happened — which, if you have never bought the Pass, is nothing.
Whiskerloop is provided as it is. It is a game about cats staring at each other; please do not rely on it for anything important.
Reporting a security problem
Email security@whiskerloop.com. Tell us what you found and how to reproduce it. We will not take legal action against somebody who reports a genuine problem in good faith and does not exploit it, access other players' data beyond what is needed to demonstrate it, or make it public before we have had a fair chance to fix it.
Ending it
You can stop at any time — delete your account from the account screen, or just stop playing. We can end an account for the reasons above. If we do, and you have unused Pass time, we will refund it unless the reason was fraud.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of the country in which Whiskerloop is established, and disputes go to its courts. If you are a consumer, this does not take away the protections of your own country's law or your right to bring a claim locally.
